Gluing wood
The gluing of the wood and other absorbent substrates involves the application of a thin layer of glue which optimizes the adhesion primer to come.
A mixture of glue base (rabbit skin glue) and calcium carbonate (white of Meudon) supplemented or not following the workshops of one or two cloves of crushed garlic is used, some spinners use only glue base , anyway, sizing is applied hot with a whisk and bristles.
It is interesting to note that in France, the rabbit skin glue is the "star material" gilding on wood since it is involved in all stages of the work.
